There will be no drive-thru on Friday when Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) closes the street in order to uninstall the umbrellas to make room for outdoor dining at new chain Burger Urge.
The works are designed to help with the on-street dining application from the restaurant, TRC infrastructure and works manager Murray Russell said.
"We are happy to work with new and existing businesses to help create a shared space for the community to enjoy," he said.
"The umbrellas have been designed in a way that allows for them to be moved.
"We will be relocating the two outdoor umbrellas to a suitable location in the near future."
The umbrellas were installed in January 2020 as a response to feedback from the community that a lack of shade had left them hot and bothered.
