Tingha police and the Rural Crime Prevention Team, based in Inverell, are investigating after a brown stock horse was shot at a farm off Old Mill Road, at Tingha.
Police claim the brown stock horse was shot once in the head, killing the animal, between 8pm on Sunday and 7:30am on Monday.

Police said they are looking to speak with anyone who has information about the shooting.
Officers have urged people to come forward if they noticed anyone "acting suspicious" around the Old Mill Road area, or within the Tingha Plateau State Conservation Area - known locally as the 'Ponds'.
