COVID-19 restrictions placed a 3000 head limit on concert-goers, with registrations maxing out on Tuesday as everyone rushed to register to get their free tickets.
Soon after registrations closed, the sounds of the live music filled Bicentennial Park from 7pm.
Mayor Col Murray was pleased to present the "first event of its kind in a long time".
The concert was kicked off with a welcome to country, smoking ceremony, and a rendition of 'We Are One' from Len Waters in Gamilaroi. The Bushwackers headlined the show, marking their 50th anniversary in true-blue Aussie style, following on from the Cover Bandits.
And the grand finale got the predicted 'oohs' and 'ahhs' from young and old alike as the colourful fireworks raced across the sky, dancing in front of our great Southern Cross.
Food stalls sent the smells of deliciously fragrant cuisine of all kinds across the lawns, like pizza, good ol' fashioned fish and chips and the sweetness of fairy floss.
The event, one of the first for the city this year, was made possible with the help of a $10,000 state government grant.
