Wood, a racing industry veteran who had been in the job since October, resigned on Wednesday morning effective immediately.
His departure comes amid a Racing NSW inquiry into why the TJC did not follow certain Racing NSW policies and procedures.

TJC administrator David Jewell said: "Wayne has only been at the club a short time, and he was of the view that the job that he accepted has changed ... and he felt that, in the best interests of the club, it would be better if he moved on and allowed the club to have a fresh start."
Jewell hopes to find a new general manager "reasonably quickly".
In the meantime, the Central Coast resident - a former chief executive of Wyong Race Club - said he would support TJC staff by doing the work of a GM, while also looking after the club's day-to-day operations as administrator.
"The situation we have at the moment is that we don't have a track manager, we don't have a board and we don't have a general manager," he said.
"So, effectively, I'm overseeing all of those roles. So I'm a busy boy."
The board has stood down, the track manager, former Cronulla Sharks player Lindsay Bowne, was terminated and now Wood has presumably returned to Brisbane after being lured out of semi-retirement to become TJC GM.
Jewell said he had the power to appointment the new general manager and track manager, in consultation with Racing NSW.
"And then resolve the board issue, and what happens with the board, further down the track," he added.
He continued: "There's fairly major events coming up for the club, with the Country Championships on March 7 and the [Tamworth] Cup on April 20.
"So there's a lot of work that needs to be done around that, making those events successful ... everyone will be rolling their sleeves up and working hard."
Since 2017, Kay Jeffrey, Mitch Shaw and Wood have served as TJC general manager.
