AUSTRALIA'S country music sweetheart Fanny Lumsden is leading the charge with seven Golden Guitar Award nominations this year, but there will be plenty of powerful women alongside her on Saturday night.

The number of men and women who are up for awards, and who are set to take the stage to perform at the iconic event on Saturday night, reflects "a little bit of equality" in the country music industry.
"It's a little bit of a harder road a lot of the time for women in representation in line-ups and that kind of thing, and I think the country music industry should be really proud," Lumsden told the Leader.

"There was so much amazing music put out last year by women and they are there because they earned their spot ... and it is great to see such great art being celebrated on the big stages."
It's been a huge year for Lumsden - she accepted her first ARIA Award from a paddock at home and is up for a whopping seven Golden Guitars.
But, as a musician, there's also been huge challenges with COVID-19.
"I think it's going to be really cathartic for everybody to come together and share their experiences and it will definitely be emotional, because it's been a wild ride for the music industry," Lumsden said.
She said she was excited for the little things as well - like that "one per cent" kind of night where she gets to style an outfit and walk the red carpet.
Lumsden will perform at the TRECC tonight for the Golden Guitar Awards 2021.
