O'Brien said the facilities at Farrer "were second to none" including "great accommodation" and an "outstanding" field.
The green surrounds that greeted the Knights when they arrived in Tamworth on Sunday was also noted by the team.
When Newcastle were in Tamworth for their preseason camp for the 2020 season, the region was still gripped by severe drought.
O'Brien said his charges were "happy to see how green it is".
He said the players were also "happy" for the people who "stuck it out and got through the drought", adding that "if you're nice and resilient and tough, good things are on the other side of it".
Newcastle have a favourable draw through the first six round of the 2021 season. During that period, a round-six clash against the Sharks is their only match against a top-eight team from last year.
However, O'Brien insisted he had not looked passed the Knights' opening round home clash against the Bulldogs on March 12.
"The position we're in, there's no easy games," he said, adding: "We saw that last year. Complacency will lead to you getting your pants pulled down."
