Despite three more people taking to social media detailing accounts of callously cast aside sharps on the weekend, Wynona Livermore was the only one to report her find to Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) on Sunday.
"There [were] dirty needles all throughout the park," she said of the Tamworth Lions Park on Duri Road.
A council spokeswoman has urged the community to report all sightings of used needles so they can be collected and disposed of safely.
"This report was made via council's website and was actioned to the appropriate team this morning," the spokeswoman told the Leader.
To date, she said council has received two reports of used needles in a public place this year. In 2020, a total of 20 reports were made.
"While staff have a regular schedule to monitor parks and check for these types of things, making a report is the best way to ensure the matter is dealt with in a prompt and safe way by Council staff who have been trained in sharps disposal," she said.
"Incorrectly disposed of used needles pose a great risk which can be easily mitigated by simply disposing of the used needles in a Community Sharps Bin in a puncture proof container."
