When the Leader took a tour behind the locked gates, acting security manager Bev Bennett gave a run-down of a regular day.
She said the day started for both offenders and staff at 7am, though most staff started at 8am.
"[Inmates] have breakfast and then the medium inmates are head-checked and the minimum go to work," Ms Bennett said.
Breakfast generally consists of cereal, and they receive bread everyday so have the ability to make toast.
After this, inmates head out in groups to the yard for exercise and fresh air.
"They can also access the library," Ms Bennett said.

At 12pm, the medium security offenders are locked in their section of the facility until 1pm, then they can head out again.
"Minimum security are allowed out of their rooms until 5pm, but come in from the yards or work at 3pm," the security manager said.
For lunch, Ms Bennett said the offers can include carrot and celery sticks with hummus, or bread rolls with meat and salad.
According to a minimum security inmate, the popular television shows they watch include The Bachelor, Married at First Sight, and Neighbours.
They can also spend time playing with Tigger and Ryder - two Heaven Can Wait Animal Shelter dogs.
These pups are inside the facility to help them socialise so they can be adopted out, and it's run through a program between the shelter and the jail.
Dinner for the inmates depends on the season. In summer, salads are served up frequently, and hot meals are the go-to in winter.
Senior case management officer Sara Abberton mentioned green chicken curry is an option they've served in the past.
"It always smells really good when they make it," she told the Leader.
As well as this, offenders can call their families. Ms Abberton said the family sends in the funds to the inmates for this.
