In what was as co-coach Peter Graham put it: "a tough day at the office", the home side lost both their Twenty20 games, finishing the day with a nine-wicket loss to North Coastal after going down by four wickets to Newcastle.
That game did though provide one of the highlight of the day with Chloe Scicluna on a hat-trick.

Captain Mim Barbara's 26 in the second game was another highlight.
"Mim played some good shots in the second game, hit a few boundaries," Graham said.
Sent in by Newcastle first-up it was tough going for the Central North batsmen and they only managed to make 5-53 from their 20 overs. Caoimhe Bray finished unbeaten on 21 and was their top-scorer, Barbara (10) the only other batsmen to reach double figures.
"We didn't want to run between the wickets," Graham said.
Scicluna's two wickets then had Newcastle 2-7 but too many extras hurt their cause. They bowled 20 extras, almost half of the required total, as Newcastle got the runs with 4.3 overs to spare.
"We bowled a bit too short and wide, and bowled extras down the left side," he said.
He said when they slowed the pace down on the ball they "did quite well", Eden Andrews, Kyanne Fowler and Zara Dennis all picking up a wicket. Fowler particularly bowled well with her three overs only costing three runs.
It was a better effort with the bat against North Coastal posting 9-83, but the coastal side were untroubled in chasing down the runs, taking just over 10 overs.
"Between the extras (they bowled 17) and boundaries they knocked off the runs pretty well," Graham said.
Monique Krake was the lone wicket-taker.
They will face both sides again on Tuesday.
"We've just got to bowl a bit tighter and be more aggressive with our batting," he said.
