Students' hunger for oztag was quelled on Thursday with a large turnout at the Plain Street Fields for the High School Oztag Gala Day.

A healthy number of 36 teams stuck on their tags for the day as temperatures crept into the mid-30s.
The number of teams could have been much bigger, though.
"I actually had more than that. I was going close to 50 but I had to cancel the 11 and 12 division because of 500 being the limit," organiser Katrina Davis said.

Had it been allowed, it would have been a much bigger turnout than past years as well.
"We'd usually get around the 36-40 mark," Davis said.
The Year 11 and 12 students will still get the chance to play.
"I've offered them an alternate date on December 11 which is our inaugural Primary School Oztag Gala Day," Davis said.
"I think we've got five [primary] schools playing. There's about 30 teams in that one for Friday."
On Thursday, teams from Tamworth High, Oxley, Peel, Carinya, Farrer, Quirindi and McCarthy took to the field across four divisions - 7/8 boys, 7/8 girls, 9/10 boys and 9/10 girls.
