Deb Godley and Mandy Yeo have finally opened their doors, after going through the start up process in the heat of lock down.

"The hardest thing about the whole process was just waiting for approval," Ms Yeo laughed.

While they were nervous about a 30 day wait, what transpired was almost 12 weeks living in trepidation of rejection.

But why on earth would someone decide to take this business step in the pandemic, something which is fraught in the best of times?

"Hairdressing never really petered off," Ms Godley explained.

"Sure, when restrictions were in ... we had to restrict numbers, but we still had people coming in.

"People would race in to get their hair coloured in the time limit and then race out to their cars and wait as it developed there."

After the salon the two ladies worked at closed, as the owner went into retirement, it was time to take action.

Always thinking of running their own, this gave them the push they needed to take that step.

When asked what they were looking forward to most about the end of the pandemic, their answer was surprising.

"Magazines," Ms Yeo laughed.

"We can't hand them out at the moment, but it's part of the whole salon experience!"
