The boy was struck by a car at about 5.15pm on Tuesday, and three NSW Ambulance crews were tasked to the scene.

According to a NSW Ambulance spokesperson, the boy suffered abdominal, leg, and pelvis injuries in the accident which occurred on a private property on Quia Road at Emerald Hill.

Gunnedah police Inspector Michael Wurth said the boy's parents started to drive him to Gunnedah hospital, but met up with ambulance paramedics at the waste facility in Gunnedah, where he was then taken to hospital.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked from Tamworth and the chopper's critical care medical team assessed the patient at the hospital on arrival before airlifting the child to Tamworth hospital for specialist medical treatment.

"Circumstances of his injuries are being investigated by Gunnedah police," Inspector Wurth said.

No charges have been laid and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are continuing.

A YOUNG child has been flown to hospital after they were hit by a car in an accident in Gunnedah late on Tuesday.

Emergency services have confirmed the three-year-old child suffered pelvic and internal injuries in the accident about 5.30pm.

Ambulance NSW deployed paramedics to the accident site, and treated the child on scene, emergency services said.

Paramedics then rushed the child to Gunnedah hospital while the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked from Tamworth.

The chopper's critical care medical team assessed the patient at the hospital on arrival before airlifting the child to Tamworth hospital for specialist medical treatment.

A spokesperson for the helicopter said the child was in a stable condition.

Some of the details surrounding the incident are yet to be released by emergency services but it's understood the incident is being investigated.
