The brother and sister double act got the Ooshie (small, plastic collectables offered free to Woolworths shoppers with their groceries) during a weekly shopping stint with their mum.
Initially they didn't realise the furry Thor was anything special, but after speaking with kids at the bus stop Alycia realised they had hit the jackpot.
The only problem was Alycia didn't know what had happened to the figurine.
"I texted Jaiden right away asking do you know where it is," she said.
Alycia said he told her it was still "somewhere in mum's car" needless to say they went looking for it that afternoon.
The pair decided to try their luck selling the Ooshie, and were delighted when it sold for $550 online.
"I was pretty excited because I didn't think we would get over $500," Alycia said, adding they were planning on splitting their profits between the two of them.
Alycia will give half her money to the Smith Family. She was learning about their work at school, and was impressed with how they help children who are living in poverty, access education.
Jaiden is as yet undecided what he will do with his share of the cash, though he thought a few computer games could be on the cards.
There were only 100 furry Thors released as part of the Woolworths promotion in Australia and each is numbered.
The Cogdells' Thor is number 86.
