The unwanted visitor was reported by local residents, after it was seen hanging around the playground in Bicentennial Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) warned residents to be aware of the risk of snakes around the region as days become hotter, in a statement posted on social media.

"This is another timely reminder that with the weather warming up, residents should be aware of the potential danger of snakes," the post read.
"If you see a snake: do not approach it, attempt to kill it or try to capture it.
"Keep your distance, stay calm and advise others that there is a snake close by and to be aware."
TRC said if the snake poses a risk to someone's safety or is aggressive, the following services should be urgently contacted:
- Wires on 1300 131 554
- A qualified snake catcher, TRC recommended Scott Grube on 0409 364 022
- Triple Zero, and ask for Fire Brigade
It is understood the snake moved on after its visit on Wednesday.
TRC did not confirm what type of snake it was, but a local resident took to social media to describe the snake as a "very big brown".
