Taco Bell stores in the Illawarra and in Ballina will open within the next two weeks, but the famous US Tex-Mex takeaway chain is no closer to serving up treats in Tamworth.
Ashley Jones, chief executive officer of Restaurant Brands Australia, which operates Taco Bell in NSW and the ACT, said the COVID-19 pandemic had briefly disrupted the roll out of new restaurants.
"Understandably, COVID-19 has meant that our Taco Bell NSW rollout was temporarily slowed," he said.

"It's good news for local communities, who have benefited from job opportunities via local construction, produce supply and over 100 new retail jobs across the state."
Tamworth is yet to see those benefits though.
A development application for a Taco Bell on Roderick Street in East Tamworth was approved by Tamworth Regional Council back in March this year, and was subject to a number of conditions.
The decision was made following consultation with neighbouring businesses and the community.
Three buildings would be demolished to make way for the fast food chain, which will sit across the road from Woolworths Eastpoint in the company of McDonalds, Oporto and Subway.
The Taco Bell is expected to create up to 54 full-time and part-time jobs in Tamworth, when it eventually happens.
