The sweet sound of country music will still be heard in Tamworth in January, as singers and songwriters from across the world tune in to a new online course.

Country Music Association of Australia will launch Academy X in Tamworth over two full days in the new year, in place of the annual two-week course, during COVID-19 restrictions.
The Academy's director Lyn Bowtell said it will be a unique opportunity for aspiring artists to learn from the "superstars" of the country music scene.
"Academy X will provide insight into industry best practices through conversation, one of my favourite things ever," she said.

"Students can expect the same passion and focus that our lecturers bring to the in-person version of the Academy."
The program is packed with musical royalty, including presentations from Troy Cassar-Daley, Brooke McClymont, Kasey Chambers, Beccy Cole and more.
Decorated producers and business professionals will also give insight to the industry, and there will be a special focus on mental health and resiliency.

Small groups led by mentors will follow presentations.
Dani Matthaus is looking forward to logging online and taking part in the new event.
The Tamworth-based singer-songwriter is the first female to be awarded The John Minson Scholarship for the course.
"I'm very excited and I was not expecting anything like this, I'm still a bit dumbfounded about it," she said.
"It's been a bit hard to actually get the two weeks to do the course, so this one is going to be a lot easier for me and do it at home and online."
The course is open to anyone, anywhere in the world, of all ages.
