A record 70 riders will leave Tamworth on November 1, on tiny under-powered bikes on a six-day circuit around the New England region, to raise money for disadvantaged children.
Long-term biker Peter Brazel said the trek would have been even more popular but for the coronavirus crisis, which has capped participation.
But the pandemic won't stop the fundraising event.
"We looked at it a different way, saying it's more important to the charity that it happens during COVID, because they're getting smashed obviously due to the lockdowns here there and everywhere," he said.
"Their fundraising abilities have been shut down."
Mr Brazel is keyed up to take part in his seventh dash. He's been there since the event started in 2014.
In that time he estimates his team of 10 has raised about $150,000 for charity, Variety.
The charity, which helps provide opportunities for disadvantaged children in NSW and the ACT, was forced to cancel its iconic Variety Bash by coronavirus.
The postie bike event is one of the first charity rides back.

Participants ride either Honda CT110 or Honda NBC110 motorcycles - the same tiny motorcycles typically used by Australia Post staff, with a maximum speed of just 85 km/h.
The event migrated from Newcastle three rides ago.
Mr Brazel said there was concern at the time the move could come at the detriment of the charity event, but instead the Tamworth region had adopted it wholeheartedly.
The 2020 event will feature riders from Orange, Gunnedah, and full teams from Armidale and Glen Innes.
"There's a whole regional group of riders who have now become part of the Variety family."
He said the city was the perfect starting point because of the range and variety of routes that can start and finish in Tamworth.
"It's just easier to get out of town. When we were based in Newcastle it'd take us an hour just to get out of Newcastle. Whereas here you pick and road and you're out in ten minutes."
Coronavirus has forced Variety to cancel school visits for the event. The community also won't be able to wave off postie bike riders as they leave Tamworth.
The charity ride starts in Tamworth and will travel through Moonan Flat, Gloucester, Comboyne, North Haven, Nambucca Heads, Coutts Crossing, Glen Innes, Bundarra and Gunnedah before arriving back in Tamworth on Friday November 6 for lunch.
