Twelve months after they were beaten by St Alberts in the decider, Emosi Veikoso was a late hero for the Magpies barging his way over after a penalty tap from close range with seven minutes remaining, Billy Urquhart then added the extras to put them back in front after the Knights had drove over from a scrum to claim the lead with 13 minutes to play.
The Magpies struggled to find the form that saw them secure the minor premiership and had held a slender 6-5 lead at half-time on the back of two penalties to Urquhart, lldiscipline (they had three players sin-binned over the course of the game) and simple errors hurting them
""They made us work today, it was a pretty scrappy game," Magpies captain Ben Coombes said post-match.

"It was very good to come away with the win."
The game was marred an ugly brawl involving both teams after the final whistle.
