The accused remained in custody in juvenile detention, while lawyers and prosecutors involved in the case discussed next steps in court.
Legal Aid defence solicitor Wendy McAuliffe appeared on behalf of the girl accused of the murder that is alleged to have occurred between 7:00am and 7:20am at a property outside Gunnedah on July 8.
Ms McAuliffe told Magistrate Julie Soars in closed court that she would be seeking a further adjournment to gather more evidence in the case.
The balance of the brief is to be served by September 28, with the case scheduled to return to court days later.
No pleas have been entered in the case, no application for bail was made and it was formally refused.
The accused will enter via audio visual link on the next occasion.
