Armidale car jacking: New England Police District officers charge teenager with alleged attempted car jacking while woman still in car

A teenager has been charged following investigations into an alleged attempted armed robbery last weekend.
About 5.40am on Saturday, a male armed with a knife entered a woman's vehicle while she was parked on Douglas Street, near The Armidale School.
Police have been told the man threatened the woman and demanded her vehicle, before she sounded the horn and the man fled on foot.

Officers attached to New England Police District attended and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy at Armidale about 10.50am on Thursday.
He was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, aggravated break and enter with intent and three counts of larceny.
The teenager was refused bail to appear at a children's court today.
