"Crews started a very aggressive attack and the fire was brought under control before the tyres caught alight," the brigade said in a statement.
It is understood one patient at the wrecking yard suffered minor burns and was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics.
The fire is believed to have broken out after sparks flew into one of the car wrecks while a staff member was using an angle grinder, firefighters believe.
Fire and Rescue NSW said the near miss served as a timely reminder for businesses to have an escape plan in place and proper fire protection equipment on hand.
