The decision to postpone the tournament came in response to NSW Health recommendations to limit inter-regional travel and major sporting events.
In his communication to the veterans cricket community, Veterans Cricket NSW president Simon Lyon said the decision was not taken lightly "but with the potential for the six week "quarantine" that has been imposed, it would leave us no time to finalise all the accommodation, players and umpires for the tournament".

He said they will continue to liase with Tamworth Veterans Cricket coordinator Greg Kellett and his team around a potential new date.
"We feel sorry for Greg and his team at Tamworth who have worked wonders with the councils to get all the grounds available and the final nailed down to a day-nighter on No. 1, and we hope that we can use the same format whenever we are next allowed to play," Lyon wrote.
Kellett said at this stage they are just "treading water".
"We're going to assess things as they go along," he said.
"Get this six weeks over and find out where we go from there."
"It's a hard one but we're not alone. Everyone's in the same boat."
"Our biggest problem with our age bracket is our age bracket.
"We're the most vulnerable so we've got to be careful."
He is glad it is only a postponement but said the issue - if they are given the green light - will be fitting it in with the 70s championships scheduled for February and the 50s championships in late February March.
Tamworth is also then set to host the State Of Origin in March.
The tournament will bring 28 teams to the area with games also to be played in Gunnedah and Quirindi.
As far as their regular competitions Kellett said they are waiting for clarification on "where people can go".
At this stage they will still start training and might play a couple of games amongst themselves.
