Paramedics, police and firefighters rushed to the scene of a car accident on Marius Street on Saturday about 10pm after a member of the public called Triple Zero.

When South Tamworth Fire and Rescue NSW crews arrived the ute had flipped on its side and the 19-year-old driver had managed to get himself out of the vehicle.

Luckily, nobody was in the parked black car at the time of the crash. The force of the car saw it pushed on to the nature strip with significant damage to the back.

Oxley police took the young man to Tamworth police station for a breath test where it is alleged he returned a mid-range result.

The man's licence was suspended on the spot and he was issued a notice to front Tamworth Local Court.

After the 19-year-old's ute hit the parked car, it travelled some way down the road where it landed on its side between Scott Road and Roderick Street, near McDonalds.

When South Tamworth Fire and Rescue NSW leading station officer Glenn Willsallen and the crew arrived, the driver of the ute was being interviewed by police.

"We were called to the incident about 10pm after a Triple Zero call to report a car crash," he said.

"When we got there the police and paramedics were already there, the man who was driving the ute was out so we had a look to make sure there was nothing spilt on the road, no danger of fire and nobody trapped inside.

"It appears he lost control and has hit a parked vehicle - it was pretty banged up."

Firefighters had fire protection ready in case the vehicle caught alight and used absorbent material on the road to clean up any potential oil spills.

The matter will now go before the court.
