The wet stuff bucketed down in the catchment and saw water surge into the dam over the past couple of days, boosting its capacity to full.
Dungowan Dam is relatively small but it is a back up water supply for Tamworth, and can help sustain the city.
Tamworth Regional Council director of water and waste Bruce Logan said it's a good sign for water security.

"Dungowan Dam is at 100 per cent and tipping, so the state of our water supply is better than it was a month ago, and that's great," he said on Wednesday.
Council is drawing some water from the dam for the needs of Tamworth residents.
"Under the drought management plan we can supply water from Dungowan until it gets to around 50 per cent," he said.
Mr Logan did the maths and said that should mean about 3000ML - or 1200 Olymipic swimming pools - of water can be taken from the dam by council to supply the town's needs.
"Depending on what consumption is like in town ... that's about 150 days [worth of water], so that's a considerable period of time and at this stage, that's what we think we will do," he said.
The spilling water will flow into Dungowan Creek, and then on into the Peel River.
