SOME ROADS in the Tamworth area remain closed to traffic on Wednesday after being flooded by heavy rain and rising rivers.
Tamworth Regional Council confirmed on Wednesday afternoon a new closure has been added. The low level bridge on Tilmundra Road, in the Retreat area has been closed due to water and debris over the bridge.
Both ends of Davidsons Lane - at Hallsville and Moore Creek - remain closed today due to water flooding the road.
Burgmanns Lane, which connects the New England Highway with Duri Road, has also remained closed off on Wednesday morning.
It is understood Burgmanns Lane is blocked to traffic because of the rainfall, which left water covering sections of the road and debris from the flood on the road as well.
Daruka Road at Daruka has reopened to travellers after being closed on Tuesday.
Tamworth Regional Council urged motorists to drive with caution, obey all road signs and never enter flood water.
A minor flood alert was issued after the Peel River broke its banks at Jewry Street on Tuesday afternoon, but it is understood the water is now subsiding and traffic is not affected.
