One of our current programs in 2020 that has been running since 2015 is our Inverell RSM AFL Program.
This program hit the ground running in 2015 with 26 talented young athletes being named in the squad.
During this time, the squads have travelled to Sydney for their annual tour where they watch the elites battle it out at an AFL Game and engage in their own match-play.
Squads have also travelled to Coffs Harbour for camps where they have played inter-academy matches and enhanced their on-field performances.
On Sunday, the 2020 Inverell RSM AFL squad will be making their return to the field. The squad will be heading to Armidale for Sunday's training session where they will make use of SportUNE's superb facilities.
The four-hour block will see the athletes get in some training time, strength and conditioning and athlete education support. This will be the first meeting of the Inverell RSM AFL Squad since March.
Sports Programs and Events Manager Brent Hartley says, "It is obviously great to have them returning to training and getting back out with their fellow squad members and coaching mentors. It's been a disruptive season for all, but we're getting right back into it, which is fantastic".
NIAS also had a presence in Armidale last weekend with two of our Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club Lone Star athletes, Amber Downes and Maisie Wilde keen to step in and help future gymnasts develop their skills.
Both athletes have been motivated to become accredited coaches in the gymnastics world, and that is exactly what they did on the weekend.
The duo took to Armidale on Sunday 26th July to complete their beginners' coaching course where they learnt the core aspects of being a coach.
Both gymnasts will now be able to develop the fundamental skills of less experienced gymnasts.
