Essential Energy had planned the Calala outages for Sunday after routine inspections brought to light some elements that neared the "end of their life".
Northern community relations manager David Crough told the Leader it was unsafe for the works to go ahead.
Crews reviewed the project on Sunday morning, and due to the rain, combined with parts of the electricity network being worked on, the work was postponed to ensure the safety of crews.

"Crews reviewed the project on Sunday morning, and due to the rain, combined with parts of the electricity network being worked on, the work was postponed to ensure the safety of crews," he said.
It was also cancelled to avoid potential damage to the network, which would have resulted in a much longer outage for customers.
Weather permitting, the work has now been scheduled for Sunday, August 23.
