Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) will vote on whether to approve a $2.3 million spend for access roads at Tuesday's meeting as part of its contribution to the $31.9 million rail hub project.

There are three parts to the multi-million project; the rail line reactivation, the intermodal site itself and the development of TGGP for future industrial business purposes.

If approved, the $2.2 million for the roads and $100,000 to manage an external contractor will unlock an equal amount from the federal government.

The grant, which has to be signed by August 14, has been set up so no work will be done by council staff or equipment.

A development application for the operation of the intermodal hub is expected to be submitted by Qube in the coming month.

Qube will fund, develop and manage all of the infrastructure for the intermodal hub which is expected to be finished in April 2021.

The council has sought specialist advice to develop the industrial park aspect of the precinct and a business plan will be submitted in August.

Part of that business plan has involved researching how other industrial parks have been marketed and identifying critical elements in design to meet the needs of potential buyers.

An expression of interest has been put out to look for a marketing and sales agent that specialises in the industrial sector, who will need to be a local agent in partnership with a national agent or vice versa.
