The university hopes to save $20 million in annual costs in the restructure, which will include cutting the number of senior executive roles to five 'Executive Principal' portfolios.
An invitation sent to media outlets on Tuesday said the announcement would map out the work UNE needed to do to protect the university from the financial burdens imposed by drought, bushfires and COVID 19, as well as some longer term structural issues.

In a message on Tuesday, Vice-Chancellor Brigid Heywood told the university community that, at present, UNE revenue did not cover all of its costs and had not done so for some time.
"The burden of diminished revenue across the last six months alongside increased costs requires a more substantial response than just costs savings and efficiencies," Professor Heywood said.
"UNE needs to invest in designing the academy and campus of the future, bringing new systems into action to support our operations and create opportunities for growth.
"To do so, we need to reduce our institutional costs, restructure our workforce and progress with new business development options."
