However, victory is far from assured as punters will have to take down a 900 gram tomahawk steak topped with ribs, fries, gravy, coleslaw and a bread roll on the side in just 30 minutes.
Bistro on Bligh owner Lesley Amos said the weekly challenge had helped business pick up in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown.
"It's really taken off so far and we'd love to see more people give it a go, but bookings are essential so we know how to cook your steak," she said.
"We've got about six people booked in to have a go at this weekend, which is just great.
"Honestly, we thought it would be a good way to get business going again after the lockdown and we have been blown away with the response."
The business owner said the challenge was not for the faint of heart.
"We had one of our family members who is normally pretty good with big meals give it a go and he couldn't get through it," she said.
"The challenge has been going a few weeks now and really it is just great to see people coming in, having fun and enjoying good food.
"To us, that's what it's all about."
The competition is the latest eating challenge on the Tamworth market, which also includes the Lions Paw challenge at the Safari Bar and Grill.
"It really is a lot of fun and it is top-quality meat," Ms Amos said.
"We're doing it every Saturday night but bookings are essential, so if anyone wants to give it a go give us a call on 6766 8166."
