But, his new album has given him a reason to smile - Burden of the Fool has been released and has already racked up rave reviews and scored a spot near the top of the famed ARIA charts.
The singer-songwriter from Nundle has spent the week at Number 6 on the ARIA Country Albums chart and Number 3 on the Australian chart.
Making it into the charts means Mr Krsulja can enter his album in the ARIA Awards.

"I'm proud that I'm a Tamworth-based artist and I'm on the charts with John Williamson, the McClymonts, Keith Urban ... I'm up there with them and that's a good place to be," he said.
"I knew I had something and I got the songs, but it's a relief to know other people got them too and it's reaching them and touching them," he said.
"It represents three and a half years of song writing and of life experiences ... the album is full of truth."
Burden of the Fool was released on June 19 and Mr Krsulja has been thrilled with its success.
He said he's got copies heading to music great Paul Kelly and Sydney radio host Ben Fordham.
"The album, I nailed it, I didn't really set out to do what I've done," he said.
"What we were seeking was art ... what we wanted was to capture was the essence, and not focus on it being perfect."
