It is predicted to cost $1 million to host a World Cup game, a figure which has caused the ACT government to abandon its push to play host.
However, Mr Anderson said he wouldn't be so hasty to sideline the idea of having a game in Tamworth.

"We are right at the very start of this particular process," Mr Anderson told the Leader.
"We are still a couple of years out from the event, so there is plenty of time to get the ball rolling."
Australia and New Zealand were announced as co-hosts of the tournament last week and Mr Anderson said Tamworth's top-notch facilities could play a vital part in securing a fixture.
"I know Wests and our local soccer organisations are already excited about the prospect of hosting a game and have reached out to me," he said.
"We will get together and have a chat about how Tamworth can play a role.
"I think we should fly the flag high for our region and let's bring it on."
Mr Anderson's continued push comes after ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the FFA wanted more than $1 million per game and could not guarantee a Matildas fixture.
The final decision on tournament fixtures will be made by FIFA with preference given to 13 stadiums and 12 cities already part of Australia and New Zealand's proposal.
