The 71-year-old man was behind the wheel of the semi-trailer which lost control and rolled on Manilla Road, or Fossicker's Way, at Red Hill, between Manilla and Barraba.
Emergency services rushed to the crash site, near Pera-Linton Road, just after 11am, after reports the driver was trapped.
He was rescued from the wreckage of the truck by Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters. He was treated at the scene for suspected serious spinal and internal injuries.

The crash caused an oil spill. Crews have spent the day mopping up the extensive spill, and the road remains closed,
Traffic is still being diverted around the scene and motorists are urged to allow extra travel time. It's understood the road block will remain in place until the clean-up is completed and the truck can be moved in a salvage operation.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
Meanwhile, emergency services have been called to a second truck crash, this time south of Armidale.
The crash happened just after 12.30pm on the New England Highway, just past Arding Road.
