The Tamworth Regional Inclusive Cultural Advisory Committee (TRICAC) will provide advice about cultural strengths and weaknesses to Tamworth Regional Council.

The six diverse community members have first-hand experience with cultural boundaries, and are led by councillor Juanita Wilson.

"The group is diverse, their backgrounds eclectic and their enthusiasm is exciting," she said.

"Our region has extensive diversity, with over 80 different ethnicities, along with the diversities that exist naturally within a community, such as age, interests, disability and aspirations.

"The committee's task is complex but also provides great opportunity for perception, innovation and outcomes which Tamworth and the region are well-known for."

The group will make recommendations to TRC about cultural matters it sees as a priority or where development is needed.

The community members are Brent Larkham, Corey Fagan, Di Hall, Ed Acosta, Olivia Hurley and Shalini Pratap. Caroline Downer is the Arts North West representative on the committee.

The city's culture was part of the Tamworth Regional Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee, but the outcomes were enormous, Cr Wilson said.

"It's easy to do something existing, it's different to establish a whole new direction," she said.

"People got to know one another, shared the strengths and weaknesses, put perspective in and talked about cultural plan and how it sat and we are accountable to achieving outcomes within that.

"We want to provide strategic advice about our population's diversity and help with specific cultural matters within our region."

The group will meet once every quarter and invite guest speakers to share their experiences to gain a better understanding.
