Fire and Rescue NSW zone commander Superintendent Tom Cooper initiated plans for a new fire station in Tamworth about three years ago, and now the crews are just weeks away from moving in.
"We're very excited to move in, it's going to be the best fire station in regional NSW, there is nothing like it anywhere else," he said.
The build is on track for a June 30 finish, and firefighters are ready to make the move at the end of July.

The Carthage Street fire station will remain operational. Superintendent Cooper said it's a good tactical decision to ensure all of Tamworth is best serviced.
"The community is everything, and if we can be in better position to look after the community, that was my aim," he said.

"I have to pinch myself sometimes to realise this is actually happening."
Superintendent Cooper described the new project as a "new start" for firefighting in Tamworth and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience a brand new fire station - especially one they designed.
"We worked with firefighters all the way along, at the end of the day a fire station is like a five-bedroom house with a big whopping garage," he said.
The station has accommodation, a big kitchen, four garages for fire trucks, a fully equipped gym and a zone command office attached.
