Oxley police, with the help of Western Australian police, homed in on the 47-year-old man in Gunnedah on Wednesday morning.
Detectives went to the Beulah Street home about 8.30am where he was arrested on allegations dating back to 2004 in the town.
Police will allege the man broke into a Gunnedah shopping mall on Conadilly Street overnight on January 20 and 21, 2004.

During the break-in, cash, vouchers and camera equipment was stolen from businesses inside the mall, between 6.30pm and 8.30am the next day, when the mall re-opened.
The man was questioned by detectives about the allegations at Gunnedah police station on Wednesday morning before he was charged with two counts of break, enter and steal from building.
He was subsequently granted conditional bail by police and has been ordered to front court in Gunnedah early next month.
