Inverell officers were called to the home at Hotel Lane, in the small town about 40 kilometres outside of Warialda, about 11am on Tuesday in relation to another enquiry.

When they arrived at the home, the officers allege they found 23 cannabis plants growing at the residence.

Police claim the cannabis plants were seized and further enquiries were made.

It wasn't until later that day that a 24-year-old woman presented at Inverell Police Station to be interviewed about the alleged illegal plants found at the home.

The woman in her mid-20's was then issued with a court attendance notice and charged with the cultivation of a prohibited drug.

She will appear at Inverell Local Court in August 6.
