A Gunnedah school's $10 million building project has reached a new milestone, with demolitions underway and preparations beginning for the next stage.
St Xavier's Primary School principal Jen Honner said they were ahead of schedule, and hadn't had any set-backs from the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It's going very well," she said.
"It's all according to the timeline, and it's actually a bit ahead of time."
The original set of classrooms have almost been demolished and the site is being prepared for the rebuild, which will be carried out by Tamworth's Shay Brennan Constructions.
"They tell me that by mid-March Stage One will be finished, which means grade 7 can move in."
Stage two, which is the new administration area, teacher meeting areas, teacher lunch areas, is set to be complete in November.
"It will be here before we know it," Ms Honner said.
The infrastructure project was funded by the Catholic Schools Office and the Capital Grants Program.
