The organisation has resubmitted to Tamworth Regional Council it's request for fields after last week they received the green light to resume restricted training from Wednesday.
"We're hoping this week council are able to let us know what fields we have and then it's just a task of me allocating our clubs some fields for them to return to training," NIF operations manager Toby McVey said.
As per Northern NSW Football's (NNSWF) Return to Training Guidelines, players are at this stage only permitted to train in groups of up to 10 (including coaches) but McVey isn't expecting that to have too much of an impact on field requirements.
They can have up to four groups (of 10) training on a field at a time with the fields being split into quarters.
It might mean a bit more juggling for the juniors given that they train more as age-based teams than larger squads, he said, but they should be okay. As well as the fields at Gipps Street they have Marius Street and potentially Viaduct Park that they can use.

With six premier division and nine junior clubs, as well as the high performance teams to factor in, even in a normal season McVey said it can be bit of a juggling act working out training times. They also have to work around the touch football competition which uses two of the fields at Gipps Street most nights.
As for when they can resume playing there is still no set date but they are still aiming for a July restart.
"We're still waiting for restrictions to be lifted," McVey said.
"(And) We are waiting for a return to play framework for be released by NNSWF. We've got our return to training guidelines then we'll get a return to play guidelines."
