The development application received a number of submissions from the community who felt the "bulky" look of the shop would compromise the historical facade of the main street.
Uralla Shire Council received the DA in November 2019 which proposed to extend the retail space by 547m2 and provide a 34 car parks on site.
The development would see the existing roof design modified to fix water damage issues, but the existing facade would remain relatively untouched.
A report to council stated that the proposed development was consistent with development controls for the area and that there was no valid planning reason to refuse the application.
"The proposal should contribute to the amenity of Uralla residents and the travelling public by providing improved shopping facilities, and no significant adverse impacts are known or expected should the application be approved," it reads.
