For Gunnedah and Tamworth accommodation providers, this news has brought a smile to their faces.
But at the same time, they say only time will tell what the reality will be, how many people will risk travelling.
Especially with the slew of tourist-attracting events cancelled.
Gunnedah's Tourist Caravan park owner Mandy Smith said it was "about time" restrictions were eased.
"We have remained open for emergency travel, working or compassionate travel, so we were allowed to operate," she explained.

With the town's major draw-card event AgQuip rescheduled for November, they have already been fielding quite a number of inquiries.
As have the Harvest Lodge Motel, with owner Esslar Kelly saying they had already received many bookings from their annual regulars.
Yet there is still so much unknown, she says, whether or not the lifting of the travel bans would see an influx of travellers.

"We are looking forward to it, but it is hard to tell, it really is," she exclaimed.
"You are always going to get people staying very cautious and not travelling, and then you do have the guys where it will be crucial to their businesses to do the trip."
Above all Ms Kelly is working hard to keep her staff and clients safe.
She hopes people show common sense as restrictions eased so we don't end up back at square one.

The Powerhouse Hotel Tamworth's general manager Daine Cooper was excited at the steps being made to go back to normal.
"I think from this point on, everything from here is fantastic," Mr Copper said.
"Obviously everyone has to be fairly mindful that we have to do our part to social distance, to prevent us from going back to square one."

Open the entire time through lockdown, he said their new takeaway service was especially frequented by their regulars.
"Hopefully people will be able to take some short holidays, business will have more confidence sending corporate travellers out, it will be good for regional areas."
