Fog blanketed the Tamworth region in the early morning and lasted until well into the morning.
The fog brought an eerie atmosphere to the city, as it partially obscured the sun, the surrounding hills, and landmarks around Tamworth like the Viaduct Bridge.
And, it wasn't just Tamworth. The pea souper also settled in over Gunnedah on Monday, too.

People from all over the area sent in photos to the Leader as the fog made its way into residents' backyards and paddocks and changed the scenery of morning commutes.
Tamworth shivered through the coldest day for the year so far on Saturday.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) recorded a low of 3.1 degrees on Saturday, and stayed clear of the double digits with a top of 9.7 degrees.
It's the lowest daily maximum temperature recorded for the month of May on the BoM record, with the previously lowest daily maximum temperature being 10 degrees on May 30, 2000.
Sunday brought a little relief, with a low of 6.5 degrees and a top of just more than 12, thanks partly to heavy fog throughout the day which hung around on Monday morning.
The BoM gauge at the Tamworth airport clocked 0.6mm of rainfall on Sunday and another 1mm before midday on Monday.
The outlook for the rest of the week looks to be relatively sunny, with some cloud sticking around before clearing up for Friday and Saturday.
The BoM is also predicting warmer temperatures, with maximums in the late teens and early twenties through to the weekend.
