Target stores in Narrabri and Armidale will close in 2021, the company has announced, while stores in Gunnedah and Moree are set to be converted into Kmart.
Up to 167 Targets of the 284-store network will be closed or converted to Kmarts over the next 12 months, the company said.

The company cited "the unsustainable financial performance of Target" and said the business would invest in the online business in Friday's announcement.
But Tamworth's large Peel Street store seems to have escaped the axe.
A comprehensive list of Target store closures released on the weekend shows Armidale, and Narrabri are slated to shut by "early-mid 2021".
They will be among 19 stores across regional NSW to close.
Meanwhile, the Moree and Gunnedah Target stores are set to be among 13 NSW Target Country stores to become "Kmart hub" stores.
Target staff in stores to be converted will be offered jobs in Kmart, Wesfarmers said. Target employees whose stores close will be given "consideration" for work in Kmart, or possibly at Bunnings or Officeworks, according to the company.
