Radio station 2TM, which created and ran the TCMF from its inception in the 1970s until 1993, has started a new program bringing country music to Tamworth every Friday afternoon.
Announcer Sally-Anne Whitten, herself a country musician, said the genre is "like home for me".
"2TM, this is where the country music festival started," she said.
"We were right there at the beginning, this is where it was created. So it's really fitting that we're back trying to push and promote and get particularly Australian country music back on the airwaves."
Ms Whitten has worked in radio for over three years.
Her 2TM Australian Country Music Chart will run every Friday between 4pm and 5pm.
The show will count down the top ten Australian country music hits of the week.
One thing you won't hear - any of Ms Whitten's own hits.
"I don't play my own tunes, that would be weird," she joked.
"Australian country music I think is really in so healthy at the moment, there's such a wide variety of it, from alt-country to pop to rock to blues to everything in between.
"We deserve more of a voice than [the genre] current gets on radio.
"There's so much good stuff, this is only the tip of the iceberg, really
"It's a good chance to get it out into the mainstream media."

She said Australians were actually beating America at its own game, bringing the country's traditional laidback attitude into song.
"I think because we live in Australia and we have a completely different outlook on life that translates really well into music," she said.
"There's a positivity about it, there's a freshness about it. The sounds are original."
The show builds off Thursday's 2TM Australian Country Music Top 20 tracks chart, which has become hugely popular among country fans around the country since its inception in 2019.
2TM helped make Tamworth the country music capital of Australia after inventing the Golden Guitar awards and holding the first festival in 1973.
The Tamworth Country Music Festival is now one of Australia's largest music festivals.
