The man, who police confirmed was wanted on five outstanding warrants, was arrested by police after a vehicle stop on the New England Highway at Muswellbrook on Wednesday night.
He was charged with five outstanding warrants relating to traffic, property, judicial and revocation of parole offences.
He was also charged with three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), two counts of common assault (DV) and one count of intentionally or recklessly destroy/damage property (DV related).
The Muswellbrook man was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Friday.
Police said investigations are continuing.

A MAN is in custody and is believed to be being questioned by the same detectives investigating the death of a baby, after a major manhunt between Tamworth and the Hunter Valley.
The 34-year-old was stopped by police on the New England Highway at Muswellbrook in a vehicle stop on Wednesday night.
He was arrested and taken to Muswellbrook police station, where he remains. No charges have been laid.
Police are remaining tight-lipped but ACM understands the arrest and operation on Wednesday is connected to the ongoing investigation of the death of a baby boy in Aberdeen in the Hunter Valley earlier this week.

On Thursday morning, a spokesperson for NSW Police would not be drawn on the nature of the investigation.
"A 34-year-old man was arrested following vehicle stop on the New England Highway and taken to Muswellbrook police station, just after 6.30pm yesterday," she said.
"He was taken to Muswellbrook police station where he remains."
It comes after a major manhunt at Nundle, near Tamworth on Wednesday.
Hunter Valley police were in Nundle, backed by Oxley police including general duties officers, highway patrol, detectives and police on trail bikes scoured the streets.
Dozens of police were seen scouring the village and surrounds and were believed to be searching for a man as part of the police operation.
On Sunday afternoon, a seven-month-old boy was rushed to hospital by his mother in Muswellbrook in an unresponsive state. The baby was unable to be revived by doctors and died in hospital.
Hunter Valley police have been investigating the death which they have confirmed is being treated as suspicious.
On Tuesday, police made a public appeal for information as part of the investigation.
Police have said a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Investigations are continuing.
