LOCAL police had to wrangle some runaways of a different kind after two horses did the bolt in South Tamworth.

Police were called on Saturday night after two horses escaped from a nearby paddock and caused havoc on the loose on Goonoo Goonoo Road.
Members of the public and officers managed to capture the pair in Preston Avenue, just off Goonoo Goonoo Road.

But finding their owners was the next task. With no one in sight, and no identification markings or sign of where they might have come from, they had to go online.
Oxley police soon put out a public appeal on Facebook to track the owners, and the online call for answers soon tracked them down.
"After some horsing around and perhaps a late night dash for a soft serve, our equine friends are back with their family," Oxley police posted online.
"Thanks to the public for assisting."
No horses or police were harmed in the night time adventure.
