The load limit was applied to the bridge on Manilla Road earlier this month after damage was identified to some of the bridge's support structures during maintenance work.
Investigations and design work for the repairs have been completed and the load limit will be removed after repairs are finished - which is expected to be on Friday 29 May, weather permitting.
The completion will be confirmed closer to that date.
A signposted detour is in place for all vehicles exceeding 15 tonnes, adding between five and 10 minutes to most journeys. The detour is via South Street, River Street, Higgins Avenue, McDonald Street, Rangari Road and Charlies Street.
