The federal government's Earthquakes@GA website shows the quake was felt at 3.48am local time on Sunday.
The earthquake had a depth of one kilometre.
It's not the first time the town has felt a tremor.
An earthquake was registered in Muswellbrook in February, while there was a number of tremors registered throughout 2019 and 2018.
