Between 6pm on Monday and 5.15am on Tuesday, three work utes were stolen from a business on Alford Road.
All three utes were later torched and destroyed. The burnt out wrecks were found off the Kamilaroi Highway, north west of Gunnedah.
Gunnedah Inspector Michael Wurth said police were hunting a trio they suspected were behind all five stolen cars.
"It is apparent that three or more persons are involved in these incidents and police are of the strong opinion that someone knows who these alleged offenders are," he said on Thursday.
"NSW Legislation makes it an offence for a person to conceal a serious offence so if you have information that might assist with the apprehension of the alleged offenders, you are encouraged to come forward and assist."
Police are continuing to investigate the thefts and are appealing for anyone or business with CCTV or dashcam footage that might have been driving on the nights the cars were stolen.
They're urging locals to review the footage and come forward with any information.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Gunnedah police on 6724 0999.
