Sharpe won't be the only Roosters member to lead a side at the World Cup, as fellow Group 4 coach Paul Noldt will take the reigns of an Indigenous team.
In all, Australia will be represented by 12 teams at the tournament in Limerick, Ireland.
More than 3000 players from more than 20 different countries will battle it out at next year's tournament.
